to join their band
to supplement the guitar work of the increasingly erratic
Syd Barrett. When Barrett’s mental breakdown made it impossible
for him to continue with the group, Gilmour became a permanent
member. His first album with the band was 1968’s A Saucerful
of Secrets.
Most Pink Floyd albums are worth hearing, though their set
of 1970’s concept records are the most consistently
interesting. Check out: Meddle (1971), Dark Side of the Moon
(1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977) and The
Wall (1979). If we had to pick one (and we have done in the
list of favourite albums) it would be Dark Side of the Moon.
Dave Gilmour has also produced two solo albums – Dave
Gilmour (1978) and About Face (1984). |
